We want to hear from you!

HeretoHelp produces Visions magazine, and stories from it are featured throughout the website and in our print publication.

One of our upcoming issues of Visions is focusing on Families and Crisis in relation to mental health or substance use problems.

We're currently looking for 3 specific stories from 3 different contributors.

  • A personal story from someone who navigated a mental health or substance use crisis with a family ‘of choice’ (rather than a biological family). Could be the family member or the individual who experienced symptoms/ill health.
  • Clinician perspective from a service provider who is willing to be open with readers about how they have found ways to engage/involve families including during a crisis. (Examples of service providers could be clinicians or school professionals etc)
  • Someone (person with lived experience, family member or a service provider) to write on the usefulness of advance planning to plan collaboratively for crises during times of wellness (Ulysses Agreements, Representation Agreements, WRAP plans etc)

If any of these sound like you, get in touch with us today! You need to be living in British Columbia, Canada, and ideally should not have shared your story in Visions before. If we receive many expressions of interest, first priority will go to people outside Metro Vancouver.

Articles are less than 2 pages long and you'd have at least a month to write.  And remember you don't have to be a "writer" to write for Visions. Our professional editor will work with you to shape your story. If you can write an email and have a story to tell, you can write for us. If you're not a clinician, you'd even be eligible for a $75 honorarium after publication if we ok you to write. Interested? Please don't start writing just yet. Contact us at first and share a couple of sentences about your perspective, and please include your community name, and a phone number as well!

Deadline to contact us expressing interest: November 30, 2016
