We want to hear from you!
The BC Partners for Mental Health and Substance use produces Visions magazine, and stories from it are featured throughout the popular HeretoHelp.bc.ca website and in our quarterly print publication. Your story could help tens of thousands of people—in BC and beyond.
Our upcoming issue of Visions Journal is called Supporting Parents. This future issue will explore the mental health challenges of parents and navigating life's ups and downs—as a parent, or supporting a parent.
We're looking to hear from someone who is a parent who can speak about the challenges of navigating mental health in themselves or their families. What have your experiences been like in terms of managing your own mental health? What are some of the mental health challenges you or your family your family have faced? How do you respond to difficult or extreme emotions? What are ways in which you care for yourself while supporting your family? What forms of self-care do you engage in?
We're looking to find someone from BC to write for us. You would be offered a $75 honourarium as it's a personal story and free copies of the magazine when it publishes in Summer 2021.
If this sounds like you, get in touch with us today! Articles are less than 2 pages long and you'd have a few weeks to write. And remember you don't have to be a "writer" to write for Visions. Our professional editor will work with you to shape your story. If you can write an email and have a story to tell, you can write for us. If privacy is a concern, you can write under a fake name.
Interested? Please don't start writing just yet. Contact Kamal Arora, Editor, at [email protected] first and share a couple of sentences about your story perspective, and please include what community you live in, and a phone number as well!
Please contact us to express interest by: February 1st, 2021.
