Culture

Culture can be any group’s shared values or beliefs, whether the group is linked by ethnicity, age, gender, life experiences, and all of the places in between. Culture is reflected in everything from how we act to what our media tells us.

Workplace

The articles in this edition of Visions talk about mental illness and the workplace- breaking down stigma, recognizing the signs, and personal stories about what was helpful and what was not helpful for mental wellness at work.

Income

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, social and economic status may be the most important determinants of health—that is, the most important factor that contributes to (or takes away from) your health. Your economic situation may have a greater impact on your health than your social environment, physical environment, or even genetics. No one single factor determines your health, but they are related and they do work together.

Social Support

What is Social Support? Social support is the physical and emotional comfort given to us by our family, friends, co-workers and others. It's knowing that we are part of a community of people who love and care for us, and value and think well of us. We all need people we can depend on during both the good times and the bad. Maintaining a healthy social support network is hard work and something that requires ongoing effort over time.
