Fact Sheets

These articles are researched using the best available evidence and are written in magazine style complete with statistics, interviews and sidebars, and are intended for people with only basic knowledge about mental health or substance use problems. These fact sheets cover a wide range of mental health and substance use issues from schizophrenia or stress to eating disorders or tobacco addiction. There are also population-specific articles for issues of particular relevance to seniors, children and youth, and ethnocultural groups, for example. Another dozen or so fact sheets deal with broader social issues, such as the relationship between mental health and substance use and housing, unemployment, workplaces, crises, or violence. The factsheet series also include articles on how to get help as well as how families and friends can support someone to get help.

Below is an alphabetical list of our fact sheet titles. To see them organized by topic, see our Understand More section.

There are many fact sheets that were translated into Chinese, Farsi (Persian), French, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese by the BC Mental Health and Addiction Services Translation Project. The translation project was made possible thanks to the support of the Provincial Health Services Authority's (PHSA) Provincial Language Service and generous funding from the PHSA. To see them organized by language, see out Other Languages section.
