Every month, FamilySmart hosts online events for parents & caregivers who are parenting a child or youth with a mental health and/or substance use challenge called "in the know." Watch a video and share experiences and strategies that help in the hard moments and focus on strengthening your understanding and connection with your kids.

Online events are facilitated by FamilySmart Parent Peer Support Workers.

In the Know: What to Say to Kids (and Teens) When Nothing Seems to Work

This is a video of a live presentation by Dr. Ashley Miller, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Family Therapist and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Miller will share quick and effective strategies to help your child and you weather difficult moments in a way that strengthens resilience and relationships.

Come together with other families to watch this video presentation and stay for a facilitated discussion by a FamilySmart Parent Peer Support Worker.

Free with registration at www.familysmart.ca.

These events are funded for parents and caregivers living in the province of British Columbia and for CASA families in Alberta. If you are from another province or territory, or live outside of Canada, we welcome you to visit our video library at www.familysmart.ca/videos and use our resources. Thank you.
